Use Art Deco Style in Hotel

Art Deco Style in Hotel

The art deco style rose to popularity in America and Europe during the 1920s and 1930s. The style was about making a statement with bold geometric patterns, hard angles, and symmetry. These days, the art deco interior style is making a comeback. To learn how to incorporate elements of the art deco style in your hotel, use the tips below.

Common Themes and Materials

Some common themes that appear regularly in the art deco interior design include:

  • Chevrons and zigzag patterns
  • Pointed edges inspired by skyscrapers
  • Feathers, leaves, and branches
  • Animal prints
  • Sunbursts

Specific materials also appear frequently in art deco design. These include mirrors, stainless steel, glass, chrome, inlaid wood, and lacquer. Other luxurious materials include marble, rare woods, and ebony wood.

Colors

The hues used in art deco design lean towards bold, striking colors with lots of contrasts. Bright and deep reds, yellows, greens, blues, and pinks pair with chrome, silver, and black. In living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms, soft beiges and creams were used because of how well they contrast with polished wood and lacquer.

Furniture

When selecting furniture for an art deco home, prioritize pieces that have strong, streamlined shapes without any of the embellishments. Furniture pieces usually run large, so keep that in mind when planning out a room. It is also typically made of chrome, mirrors, or exotic woods like zebrawood. You can go all out and place art deco furniture throughout your hotel, or you can incorporate elements of the design aesthetic with just a few notable pieces like an art deco style coffee table or headboard.

Lighting

During the 20s and 30s when art deco was first rising to prominence, lighting fixtures were made of glass and chrome. The glass was often etched or enameled. Color and white glass lamps were also trendy. Try to incorporate these lights into your home décor. Though you can find original pieces, there are also tons of reproductions on the market.
